Webinar Descriptions

EEOC and OFCCP Compliance
Compliance began with the 4/5ths rule and has evolved into requiring employers to produce applicant logs in a specific written format placing a significant burden on employers that do not have adequate processes in place to ensure compliance.

Disparate Pay
In August, 2008, the Government Accounting Office issued a report assailing the EEOC and OFCCP for not adequately monitoring and enforcing compliance relative to equal pay. On January 9, 2009, the U.S. House of representatives passed the Paycheck Fairness Act and the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, two pieces of legislation that are intended to dramatically increase the penalties imposed for employers found to have compensation practices that have a disparate impact on women and minorities.

The landscape has changed with regard to compensation inequality and employers must assess their disparate pay exposure and take immediate action to mitigate it. This webinar is a must for all decision makers in HR as well as other management positions involved in pay and promotional decisions.

Family Medical Leave Act
The FMLA, originally enacted in 1993, was revised on November 14, 2008, and the new regulations took effect on January 16, 2009. With the implementation of these new regulations, employers must immediately take note of the changes required. This Webinar will update employers on the FMLA and actions they should be taking now to comply with the new provisions.

Human Rights in the Workplace
Most employers are familiar with the basic requirements of Equal Opportunity laws which aim to create a "level playing field" so that people are employed, paid, trained, promoted and receive benefits and opportunities solely on the basis of their skills, abilities and how they do their jobs. But navigating the laws and concepts encompassing Human Rights in the Workplace is a tremendous challenge. This webinar will provide you with the basic knowledge necessary to understand how Human Rights in the Workplace impacts your organization.

Performance Reviews
Employees are your organization's greatest asset and to make sure you are maximizing your return on them, it is critical that their performance be analyzed objectively and repeatedly. The purpose of the Performance Appraisal is to allow managers and supervisors to evaluate and then develop an individual's skills and abilities. It should be used to review and encourage your best employees to maintain high levels of performance and motivate poor performers to do better.

Applicant Management System
This is a webinar for organizations working to attain EEOC and OFCCP compliance. The webinar covers handling your entire employment application process online, differenciating qualified applicants from jobseekers per the EEOC and OFCCP requirements, and ranking requirements, ranking applicants based on job qualification, and more.

Interviewing: the Behavioral Approach
This webinar focuses on helping make personnel tasked with interviewing job candidates more effective interviewers by acquainting them with information and tools that will result in a better understanding of a candidate's ability to successfully perform a job. This webinar does not focus on how to conduct interviews, but is designed to teach experienced interviewers how to identify behavioral characteristics of candidates that can impact job performance and how to use this information to make better informed hiring decisions.

Job Ads - Get the most for your $$
This webinar will help educate registrants on how to get the best rate of return on their job ad dollar while simultaneously improving candidate quality.

Employee Policies and Procedures
Registrants will receive a copy of the Employee Policies and Procedures Manual and it will be covered in some detail.

Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment
The American Disabilities Act, since its institution in 1990 and with the current Amendments in 2008 (effective January 1, 2009), puts new restraints and obligations on employers that set up a board of standards and specifies the interpretation of language in the Act itself.

Violence in the Workplace
This webinar answers the many questions about violence in the workplace. What is Workplace Violence and how does it affect me or my employees? Workplace violence varies in degrees but all workplace violence should be taken seriously.

Job Tax Credits
The HIRE Act was signed into law March 18th 2010. It aims to catalyze job growth by providing employers a payroll tax forgiveness and a long-term retention credit. Also, the WOTC continues to provide tax credits for businesses hiring qualified individuals. In both programs, benefits are not automatic; direct intervention is required to receive tax credits. In this webinar, businesses will learn about their entitlements, how to identify qualified employees, possible disqualifications, and other important information required to net a business the greatest possible return on their investment.

The EEOC and Kroger
A hearing and speech-impaired applicant recently filed a charge against Kroger for denying employment due in part to the pre-employment questionnaire (deemed a test) meant to gauge a candidate's suitability to a customer service position. The situation calls for a clear understanding of the American Disabilities Act and its amendment.

Selecting Really Great People
In this webinar, CRI will reveal how for the past 55 years we've helped organizations of all sizes and types across America and around the world increase their success by attracting, selecting, and developing really great people. This webinar is for owners, managers, and supervisors who make decisions on hiring, firing, and training and developing people and the HR people who facilitate the process.

The HR Manager as the Peacemaker
Conflict is an inevitable part of working relationships and HR Managers are often called upon to be impartial mediators when conflict arises among co-workers. However, with a proper response conflict can lead to a diversity of solutions that are often more effective than when only one solution is explored. It allows managers and employees to better understand personality styles, differences of opinion and how to best work together yielding more productive relationships. Conversely, if left unresolved, conflict can compromise relationships and undermine the organization's effectiveness.

BAD: Buck-A-Day
The BAD guys are coming Productivity Improvement
Thousands of organizations are involving employees in a program called Buck-A-Day. If you're looking to cut costs, increase productivity, boost morale or open communications, BAD is the way to go because it offers a change from humdrum routine and open up communication channels by adding some elements that are frequently missing from the daily business scene: involvement, recognition, and a sense of fun..

Applicants with Convictions
On April 25, 2012 the EEOC issued a statement that really created havoc in the hiring world. With that statement, the burden of proof was transferred to the employer for rejecting applicants convicted of a felony, for jobs they are qualified for. The law itself says that the exclusion must be "job-related for the position in question and consistent with business necessity." But what does that mean for your company and how can you avoid being sued for the discrimination of convicted felons?

Effective Hiring
In a dynamic workplace it is essential that you do what you can to not only make the best hiring decisions for your company, but also comply with employment regulations and laws - so where is the balance? You first must know what you can't do in terms of hiring, and then work within those guidelines on what you can do to attract and select the best possible candidates for the job.

Pick a Winning Employee
The economy is heating up! The unemployment rate is down! Yet it's becoming harder to find really great people to fill the openings in your firm.

Having really great people in your organization is the key to success. It all begins with:

  1. Advertising to attract the right candidates to apply
    1. What goes into an ad to make people want to apply?
  2. Using an online system that runs 24/7 to enable people to apply easily
  3. Objective assessment of candidates to make sure you make the best hiring choice

Understanding Testing & Assessments in America
Objective: To educate employers on testing and assessments in America and how to best utilize an assessment in the hiring process.

Records Required for EEOC/OFCCP Compliance
This webinar focuses on what records an employer must keep for whom and for how long for both the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance requirements. Each record keeping requirement is a result of an act or regulation set in place by the EEOC or OFCCP and as a result what information must be presented.

The Effects of Negligent Hiring and Abusive Behavior in the Workplace
Even without anti-bullying legislation, employers should address behavioral concerns in the workplace. If left unresolved, employees may begin to see just how much abusive behavior impacts productivity in the workplace. In this webinar we will cover the following on how to ensure that your company is hiring quality workers and ways to reduce the amount of adverse behavior happening in your organization.

Understanding Achiever & its Uses
The Achiever® and Sales Achiever* assessments provide an independent, objective analysis of a candidate based on the requirements needed to successfully perform their job. By assessing applicants and current employees on The Achiever® or Sales Achiever, employers can identify an individual's true talents and objectively compare candidates, generate questions for interviewing, develop specific training and development programs, and give insight into the best approach for managing an employee for greater success.

Equal Pay for Women- Fact or Fiction?
It all started with the Equal Pay Act of 1963, which basically sought to abolish wage disparity, on the basis of gender, for equal work on jobs of which performance requires equal skill, effort, and responsibility, and are performed under similar working conditions (www.eeoc.gov/laws/statutes/epa.cfm)- the jobs do not necessarily have to be identical, but substantially equal. Since 1963, several attempts have been made to close the wage gap between men and women, yet studies show that full-time female workers make only 78 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gap of 22 percent. This webinar will further explore potential reasons why the gender wage gap, although decreased in the past 50 years, is still sizeable, significant court cases, and ways companies can help decrease this gap.
